NORTHPORT, AL — The Northport City Council will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, July 6 at noon, due to the city being closed on Monday for Independence Day. City leaders will consider a long list of repairs from flood damage cause by remnants of Tropical Storm Claudette on June 19, along with adding an additional allocation of $250,000 to address immediate repairs and needs. (More on Patch)The City Council will vote on the adoption a new employee benefit policy to all City of Northport employees, along with incoming new employees, which will come at no fiscal impact to the city. Under the proposal, existing employees as well as new employees will be allowed to transfer unused sick leave from a previous Retirement Systems of Alabama contributing agency. This time will then be placed in a separate account for retirement service credit only and the employee cannot use this transferred time for leave time with the City of Northport. (More on Patch)The Council will also vote on extending the contract for City Administrator Glenda Webb through the first Monday of November 2025, which would bring her employment in line with the current council term.
