Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Yard Supervisor, the Yard Forklift loads concrete products and other items on company and customer vehicles for shipment out of the yard, following established policies and procedures. • Loads concrete products and other items on company and customer vehicles for shipment out of the yard. Prepares makeup’s as required. Uses forklift, handcart or hand-loading as required or directed. • Performs last quality control inspection on inventory leaving the yard. • Maintains high level of customer service as required or directed. Assists customers to select the inventory they need, as required. • Carefully completes shipping documents. Verifies shipping paperwork with customers. Reports inventory quantities as required or directed. • Maintains work area in orderly and hazard-free condition. • Performs other functions and duties as required or directed such as maintaining written records of inventory; removing and inspecting returned concrete products and other items; consulting with customers on the proper loading of their vehicles; reporting shortages and quality problems immediately to the Yard Supervisor; monitoring traffic flow through the yard and reporting problems immediately; reporting forklift malfunctions; performing simple forklift maintenance tasks such as checking fluid and fuel levels; and other mobile equipment; maintaining order, cleanliness and safety of assigned yard area; and assisting with training of staff members. The forklift operator drives a forklift in the storage yard to bring product to paid customers. In most situations they will use the forklift to load full pallets of product directly onto the customer’s vehicle. However, occasionally they will hand stack product onto a pallet for partial orders and allow the customer to unload the product themselves.
