The key accountability of a Maintenance Assistant is to assist in the upkeep of a facility and equipment. The individual will mostly work under the supervision of a manager and is required to follow all standard operating procedures of the company. Maintenance assistants also undergo training before commencing work with this organization. Duties and Responsibilities • Assist in the maintenance and repair of machines, mechanical equipment, electrical systems, and buildings • Inspect and diagnose problems and figure out the best way to correct them • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines and electrical systems continue to run smoothly • Ensure the upkeep and maintenance of all areas of the facility. • Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the work areas. • Inspect all electrical and mechanical units and systems to ensure the proper functioning of the same. • Keep a record of all the day-to-day maintenance activities undertaken in a facility. • Maintain service cycle records. • Report defects, damages, and malfunctions of any kind to the immediate supervisor. • Comply with all corporate policies and the Occupational Safety and Health administration rules (OSHA) while working. • Effectively complete tasks as assigned by the immediate supervisor from time to time. • Coordinate work processes with other internal departments of the company. Skills and Specifications • Should have good written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to identify technical defects in electrical systems, mechanical equipment, and building structures. • Ability to complete general maintenance and repairs as required. • Ability to effectively manage time, meet deadlines, and coordinate work functions with fellow workers. Education and Qualifications • High School degree, diploma, or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution. • Ability to speak English and Spanish. • 2 to 3 years of experience in a related field preferred.
