Description
Hello everyone. So as a violinist for almost fifteen years, I want to take initiative to not only play the instrument but to also build one/repair them when necessary. I want to know if there’s anyone who’s a luthier who could take me through the process. I’ve been told by one of the staff at the House of Musical Traditions in Takoma Park that violin bow making is another component in luthiership and doesn’t use more space as opposed to a violin. And I also know that there are books that take you through the process as well, but having an expert teach me the process is equally, if not, immensely beneficial.
This skill would add a greater dimension to my appreciation and love of music and music history, following in the footsteps of masters from a few centuries ago. And furthermore, once I understand the construction of violin, I can also know when to make repairs for my violin as well as others.
I know businesses also have luthiers, though it varies whether they would have the timeframe to work with me in this regard. It have to be part time since I’m in HVAC full time, between five to six days depending on schedule. But I’m flexible and can work out whatever works.
