The mission of North Shore Animal League America – Adirondack Region is to operate a no kill adoption center in Warren County, NY. Through the North Country Initiative we help reduce the feline overpopulation problem and save the lives of the many felines in need through rescue, the implementation of spay/neuter programs and adoption We are seeking a part time 24 hours per week an Animal Care Associate. The hours that are required are: A combination of Mornings 8:00-1:00 and Eves 3:30 – 8:00. We will need you to work Sundays and or Mondays 3:30 - 8:00. There is some flexibility with this schedule depending on availability. Flexibility to work weekends and holidays. You need a valid drivers license with no infractions and have had the license for at least 3 years. To drive for our organization, you need to go for a drug test prior to your date of hire. The Associate will provide the day to day care of the Adoption Center animals to ensure their general health and well-being. Duties and Responsibilities: Clean and disinfect animal cages, habitats, living spaces, food dishes and litter pans. Feed animals the appropriate type and amount of food according to their written instructions. Ensure that animals have fresh water at all times. Observe animal appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease and discontent reporting any signs of concern directly to a member of the medical staff, Adoption Center Manager or Director. Complete notes on Daily Observation Sheet. Be familiar with all felines including habits, behavior, and medical conditions. Maintain the cleanliness of the facility including utility rooms and bathrooms. Cleaning duties included but are not limited to sweep/vacuuming and mopping of floors, scrub and disinfect walls and floors, daily laundry. Complete daily checklists as required. Restock food and other supplies as needed. When items are low, notify appropriate staff. Be sure animal records/cage and habitat forms are accurate and readily available. Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Previous experience working hands-on with animals in a shelter environment or veterinary facility a plus Positive & friendly attitude, Good communication and listening skills. Ability to work independently and as a team. Willingness to maintain sanitation of animal areas. Desire to make a positive difference in the lives of animals.
