Power Utility Damage Assessment QCC Connect Apply Now Urgently hiring Job details Salary From $20 an hour Job Type ON Call Contract Number of hires for this role Many On-going need to fill this role Many Full Job Description Established company seeking Damage Assessment Teams to provide support to utility companies in the immediate aftermath of devastating events and power outages. Declining to participate in an event will not disqualify you from future events however, saying you will participate and then not showing up will. Upon completion of screening and application process, you will be placed on a call list to respond whenever a situation should arise. Team Description: • A Damage Assessment Team is a 2 person crew, consisting of a Damage Assessor and a driver. • The Damage Assessor is responsible for recording and reporting the extent of damage to power utility lines after a major disaster. • The Damage Assessor must provide their own driver(s). We recommend you provide 2-3 people as a driver to increase your availability to work. • 1 person must use their own vehicle to perform the job and this can be provided by the damage assessor or the driver. Damage Assessor Requirements: • Previous storm assessment experience is desired. However Training will be provided • All testing must be completed with passing scores to show you are qualified for the job. You cannot work unless testing is completed. • Must be able to identify primary and secondary electrical facilities including poles, primary wires, secondary wires, services, primary insulators, transformers, fuses, reclosers, substations, etc. • Demonstrate proficiency in distinguishing between energized versus de-energized lines and open/tripped versus closed protective devices. • Identify the difference between electrical, cablevision, and telephone lines. • Visually inspect all line segments, including the walking out of the facilities to visually verify no damage or other issues are present. • Surveying damage, determining which protective device is available to isolate the identified damage and for developing a restoration plan for a designated area or circuit. • Assist with the coordination or direction of restoration personnel to their next assignments. • Report any oil spills immediately to the designated representative or Restoration Team Leader. Driver Requirements: • Drivers License and a reliable vehicle to drive during the assignment. • Drivers do not have to complete online testing but must watch all training videos and understand the Damage Assessors responsibilities • Assist the Damage Assessor with taking notes, reading maps and other miscellaneous tasks. Required PPE and Equipment: • Damage Assessors must have Boots with EH soles and reinforced toe • Drivers must have safety boots • Smart phone and charger • GPS • Hard hat • Safety glasses • Traffic vest • Work gloves • Flashlight • Rain gear • PVD (personal voltage detector) will be provided.
