I've responded to a few just to see what happens. Every response I have gotten from a different phone number replies with, "I am from craigslist post about kitten. You there?" So if you see that, you got a scammer. If anyone else feels like sharing any experiences to help prevent others from getting scammed feel free to add a post about your experience.
