Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Johnny Goodman Golf Course , Benefitting the Omaha Parks Foundation and City of Omaha’s Junior Programs
The Omaha Parks Foundation invites you Tee it Up FORE Omaha Parks! on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the beautiful Johnny Goodman Golf Course. Johnny Goodman Golf Course is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year and we aim to honor the past and fund the future. We hope you will join us!
Johnny Goodman was the son of Lithuanian immigrants who became orphaned at the age of 14. He attended South High School and worked as a caddie at Field Club of Omaha. With the opportunities he was afforded, he was able to develop his game. In 1929, at age 19, Goodman rocked the links when he defeated the world’s best golfer, Bobby Jones. The N.Y. Times headline heralded "Bobby Jones loses to young Nebraskan in big golf upset. Omaha boy defeats champion." He continued to make history as the last amateur golfer to win the U.S. Open (1933) and the U.S. Amateur (1937). He was later featured on the cover of Time magazine.
Knowing the good that can be done when kids are given opportunities to learn and grow, funds raised from this event will be used to support and expand Junior Programs throughout the City of Omaha. The programs include not only golf, but also swimming, tennis, & summer day camps.
Entry fee includes...
