Hello, my name is Dave and I'm guessing that headline caught your attention. Well...are you? Fully utilizing your unique skills and talents that is. My guess is not. I'm here to tell you that you absolutely can and should organize your life to fully maximize your potential. Especially after all that we've been through so far. We've been locked out of certain businesses, locked up inside our houses, lost careers, lost loved ones, and in some ways lost touch with ourselves. I’m not going to be all doom and gloom though, I’m here to outline for you a path to real fulfillment and true happiness. The truth is that obtaining what you want isn’t all that hard. The steps are easy, it’s the execution that matters most and that’s easy because you’ll be doing what you love. Have I got your attention? Alright, on to the meat of it. Step 1: Get your house in order It’s become too easy in these times to get lost in the ego. Smartphones and social media, while invaluable tools have a fatal flaw. They disconnect us from other human beings physically while overwhelming us with the contents of all of our friend’s thoughts. It’s not the ideal way to live for us to achieve our full potential. Are you willing to develop a healthy relationship with your technology? Human relationships are so important yet through isolation they have become more and more disconnected. People are not meant to be alone. Create the family you need and deserve. Put yourself out there with positive vibes and clear intentions. Meet other people, learn about them, learn to love them. Make yourself accountable to someone other than yourself. Preferably the closest friend and confidant you have, spouse, partner, even your mother. The point is that you pick someone that you couldn’t stand to disappoint. Make sure this person shares in your successes and your failures and is a rock for you emotionally. Step 2: Plan, write it down, take action Starting any project whether it’s a business, an essay, or working on one’s self is a daunting task. Too often we get overwhelmed by the magnitude and we begin to talk ourselves out of ever enacting that plan. For this reason, planning is as essential as human networking. We work smarter when we’re organized. I’m reminded of the quote by Arther Ashe, “Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.”. You can overcome the paralyzing factors of starting a large task by remembering these three sentences. Put them to use as a blocking pattern for negative thoughts. Plan your success by writing it down. This should not be skipped. The writing process is more than just relaying information it’s a refining technique that helps you hone your thoughts and salt your actions. Don’t worry about spelling, punctuation, or even making cohesive thoughts. Write just for you. Make a habit of this. As you write down more of your thoughts and read through them again you’ll discover new ways of thinking about old ideas. Problem-solving will become second nature and your confidence will rise as a result. This newfound confidence will be key in further developing your best self. Step 3: Have confidence in yourself Don’t be afraid to ask the universe for exactly what you want and have the confidence to know that you can make it a reality. You notice I didn’t say the universe would hand you what you want. As with everything in life it requires a little effort. You need to take positive steps towards your goals and have faith that the rest of the details will be worked out. Turns out when you line up the little things in your life and create anything you deem of value you are rewarded with less laborious work and more wealth, personal and financial. Knowing how to love and believe in yourself is critical to understanding how to be happy. That’s right, you need to learn how to love yourself just like any other skill. We’ve been conditioned since our youth to be critical of ourselves and others with often disastrous results. It’s ok though because this cycle can be easily broken with just four words, “I Believe in You!”. That’s right, a stranger on the internet, that you’ve never met before, believes in you and your abilities. I see the value in you and your potential. Don’t take my word for it though, ask someone you love this question, “Do you believe in me?” Be prepared to hear their response and digest it. Don’t interrupt just let them go on about you as long as they need. Believe me, this will boost your confidence. Step 4:) Putting your newfound confidence to work I like to believe that I’m not all talk so I’m going to put my money where my mouth is. Feel free to reach out to me about any idea you have. Anything that excites you more than the everyday grind. You see I’m building something big here in El Paso and I’m going to need talented individuals that want to reach their full potential. Those that perhaps have been laid off and aren’t utilizing their skills or people that have fallen on hard times but want to feel the hustle again, perhaps you’re young and lack experience. Let’s build something together and help build a better, post covid, El Paso.
