Danvers Moves Rapidly To Level 4 Drought Water Restriction

DANVERS, MA — Just six days after moving to Level 3 in its townwide drought water restrictions, low water flow in the Ipswich River is forcing Danvers to move to Level 4. The new restrictions mean residents are only allowed to water outdoor lawns and gardens via sprinklers and irrigation systems twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Hand watering with a nozzled hose or watering can is allowed anytime, as is car washing. If the town is required to move to a Level 5 restriction, only hand watering with a hose or watering can during certain nights of the week would be allowed. Level 6 — the highest drought-condition level — would ban all outdoor watering of any kind. Additional information on the water restrictions can be found here. The Danvers Department of Public Works is advising residents to keep an eye out for changing restrictions as the summer progresses.
