Greenfield Issues Own 'Safer At Home' Order

GREENFIELD, WI — Hours after the Wisconsin Supreme Court struck down Gov. Tony Evers' Safer At Home order, local officials with the Greenfield Health Department issued their own order, keeping certain restrictions in place at least until the end of the day on May 21. "While we would certainly prefer a state-wide approach, the ruling yesterday from the Wisconsin Supreme Court made it necessary that the Greenfield Health Department, in alignment with local health departments across Milwaukee County, take action to continue controlling the spread of COVID-19 throughout our community," Greenfield Health Department officials said on Thursday morning. Suburban Milwaukee local health officials banded together hours after the State Supreme Court's ruling was made public, and each of the County's 18 municipalities now have a local version of the Safer At Home order in effect. You can read the order here. "While we recognize the path forward is not an easy one, our goal remains the same as everyone else – to reopen Greenfield as safely and quickly as possible. Most importantly, we want to make sure that there is no second or third peak, and avoid a reopen that could be devastating for bother residents and businesses in Greenfield," officials in Greenfield said.
