Beverly Fire Secures $40K State Training Grant

BEVERLY, MA — A $40,000 state grant will go toward helping train Beverly firefighters on driving various new apparatus. The grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency will cover 90 percent of the training cost, with Beverly providing a 10 percent match. "Fire safety grants fund critically needed resources to equip and train our fire department staff, enhance efficiencies and support community resilience while relieving some of the financial stress on our taxpayers," Beverly Mayor Mike Cahill said. The Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program is intended to enhance the safety of the public and firefighters with respect to fire-related hazards by providing direct financial assistance to eligible fire departments, nonaffiliated Emergency Medical Services organizations and State Fire Training Academies. "The Beverly Fire Department is very grateful for this AFG grant to support driver training," Beverly Fire Chief Peter O'Connor said. "AFG grants help us provide the best training and equipment for our firefighters ensuring safety and the fastest response times in emergencies." Did you find this article useful?
