BELLEVUE, WA — Bellevue beaches will be a little on lifeguards over Independence Day weekend, due to a regional staffing shortage, city officials said Thursday. As a result, both Clyde and Chesterfield beaches will not be staffed with lifeguards for the time being. With Newcastle Beach Park closed to swimming, due to high bacteria levels, the lifeguards who would usually be stationed there will instead be at Chism Beach Park, the city said. Families are also encouraged to visit Enatai Beach and Meydenbauer Bay, where lifeguards are on duty every day, between noon at 7 p.m., through Labor Day. Lifeguards will also return to Newcastle Beach Park once the water is deemed safe. Learn more about Bellevue's lifeguarded beaches, or find out how to apply for a job on the city's website.
