Press release from the City of Iowa City:
July 1, 2021
City Council meetings will move back to an in-person format for its Tuesday, July 6, 2021 meeting. In-person meetings replace the digital format used over the last 16 months, which were put in place due to the pandemic.
Although the meetings will revert back to pre-pandemic procedures, they will feature public health safety measures due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Most notably, the meetings will be held at The Senior Center, 28 S. Linn St., inside the assembly room. The Center's assembly room is larger than City Hall's Emma Harvat Hall, and provides seating that allows for social distancing.
Those interested in attending the meetings should enter The Center from the Washington Street entrance only.
Face masks, hand sanitizer, and disinfectant wipes will be made available to all. Masks are not required to attend the meetings, but are encouraged.
Public comment will revert to pre-pandemic, in-person practices. The meetings will continue to be broadcasted live on the City's Facebook page and on City Channel 4's website.
