JERSEY CITY, NJ — Impending storms have canceled the Downtown Farmer's Market. The cancellation was announced on the market's Twitter account. The Hudson County Office of Emergency Management issued notice of a "flash flooding and severe thunderstorm threat" for Thursday from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday. Hoboken and low-lying areas of Jersey City, Secaucus, and Weehawken have been known in particular to flood during strong storms. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood watch starting Thursday morning.The Hudson County OEM noted in their alert, "Scattered flash flooding threat 2 p.m. to 2 a.m., strong to severe thunderstorm threat 2 p.m.-8 p.m., scattered flash flooding 1-2 inches per hour, localized strong damaging winds isolated damage to trees and power lines. The Downtown Farmer's Market will return on Monday. The farmers' market is cancelled today, 7/1, due to thunderstorms.
