County Health Officials Report 84 New COVID-19 Infections, No Deaths As Cases Rise Slightly

By Elizabeth Ireland, Times of San Diego July 1, 2021 San Diego County public health officials reported 84 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday and no deaths from the pandemic disease. Of 7,107 tests reported by the county in the past day, 1.2% returned positive. The 14-day rolling average percentage of positive cases held steady at 1.1%. The county's total number of coronavirus cases since the pandemic began is 282,582. The death toll remained at 3,780. Hospitalizations in the county related to the pandemic increased by 21 to 87 since last Wednesday. The number of COVID patients in intensive care decreased by two to 24. There were 51 staffed, available ICU beds in the county. Meanwhile, the number of fully vaccinated residents rose to 1,869,446 million, putting the county at 88.9% of the goal to vaccinate 2.1 million people ages 12 and older. Nationally, 46.7% of the U.S. population is fully vaccinated, according to data compiled by the Mayo Clinic through Tuesday.
