What causes hyperinflation?

News

Washington DC

Description

The usual reason is the government spending wildly more money than they're taking in as we saw the last 4 years when Trump spent through the roof even before COVID and slashed taxes to the wealthiest corporations and individuals at the same time. What was the result? A skyrocketing federal deficit. What does the government do when that happens? Prints more money to pay the bills. What is the effect of printing more and more money? The value of money becomes less and less so prices go up and up accordingly. What do we call it when the value of money becomes less and less and prices go up and up? Hyperinflation. This lesson on hyperinflation brought to you courtesy of the Trump administration who demonstrated the causes of it for 4 straight years by spending more and more money they didn't have every single year.
