Description
Getting a new band started now that lockdowns are lifted and we're all vaccinated - two guitar players and a drummer looking for a singer. (Well, I say two guitarists, but I've primarily been a bass player in my past bands so if you are also a guitar player I'm not mad about the idea of being the bassist here) So far, the songs seem to be organically coming together in a 70s-influenced hard rock/HM style with little bits of punk/HC also in the mix. There are definitely parts that are supposed to sound like Speedealer or Danzig or Quicksand, and there are little flashes of Cheap Trick and The Who, but the general direction probably tends more towards AC/DC, Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath, maybe a little bit of "British Steel"-era Judas Priest. Some of our favorite singers are Chris Robinson, Bon Scott, the guy from The Bronx, Kurt Cobain, Joan Jett... people who can definitely belt it out in key, but also have a little bit of grit and dirt on it. I'm tempted to say Rod Stewart, but it's hard to stay focused on the amazing vocal masterpiece that is "Stay With Me" when he's spent the last 30+ years as the king of nonthreatening mom rock. Open to all ages/genders/etc. - if your lyrics are cool and your voice is good, we want to meet you. We're all in our upper 30's/40's, have jobs with stable incomes, reliable transportation, working gear, prior experience writing/recording/touring/etc. - people with the time, energy, interest and resources to dedicate to putting together a "real" band. We've been getting together in Roxborough to play (loads of parking and virtually no chaos factor in the neighborhood), but that's by no means set in stone. We definitely want to treat this seriously and go where it takes us, but full disclosure: if you're interested in living the nomadic life, playing two hundred shows per year and couch surfing during the down time, this probably isn't a good fit for you (but hey, more power to you - good luck and have a blast!). So who's out there? Let's get together and make some hooky, riffy, thunderous power chord rock!
