Starting Band 'Hard Rock/Blues'

Meets

Chesapeake VA

Description

I've spent over a week mulling this over trying to describe what I'm looking to do, here goes. Looking to start a group that starts off with a decent set of covers that would fulfill about an hour of play at a gig. Then move on to writing original material. The philosophy is that I wouldn't want to play cover songs played by every other cover band in the area, it's kind of dumb in my opinion when there are two bands playing the same venue on the same evening that have more than one song in common on their setlist. Two songs I insist will be played are Dazed and Confused - Led Zeppelin and Heart-Shaped Box - Nirvana. I want to embrace the era of psychedelic rock and blues merging in the late 60s and splitting off into early heavy metal. Skip the 80s... pull from the alt-rock of the 90s. I could write a long list of influences... but the idea is to be more John Lennon than Paul McCartney while not being a mids scooped 'metal' band that doesn't embrace the words finesse and dynamics. Looking for: Drums, Bass, Guitar II (lead and/or rhythm), keys, vocals (can be more than one person). I have an occasional practice space available. Anyone with a permanent availability would be appreciated. Please feel free to email me to talk about ideas and interest.
