Basic Crating & Packaging is looking to hire a Dangerous Goods Specialist. Applicant must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Warehouse and forklift experience is preferred. Applicants should have basic PC skills and be familiar with Microsoft Office. They should also be detail-oriented and have a strong ability to communicate with others via email, phone, or person. The position will involve work in a warehouse, office setting, and onsite at customer’s locations. A valid driver’s license must be maintained. Duties will include the following. *Position Purpose* • To pack, inspect, and document all customer orders in an efficient & safe manner, ensuring compliance with the applicable transport regulations. *Essential Functions & Principle Accountabilities* • Efficiently safely pack all orders each day • Ensure integrity of all packages & crates • Present every product in a neat, clean & organized manner • Clean work area daily • Turn in required paperwork by the end of each day • Ensure all shipments are prepared in compliance with appropriate DG regulations depending upon mode(s) of transport • Create DG documents for the applicable transport mode(s) • Being physically present at the worksite • Ensure traffic movement through the DG dock is safe and efficient • Ensure that shipments are released to the correct destinations • On hand new shipments to the dock • Ensure drivers are not held at the dock for more than 30 minutes • Provide proper documentation for all outgoing shipments • Assist with general functions, as assigned, in the DG warehouse *Additional Responsibilities* • Take responsibility for the safety of self and others at all times • Take responsibility to eliminate accidents, injuries & hazards at all times • Observe & act following all applicable laws & regulations & company policies • Perform DG compliance work off-site, when necessary • Maintain valid driver’s license • Other duties as assigned *Knowledge/Skills/Abilities* • Ability to follow instructions/procedures • Ability to read & interpret documents • Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
