Description

Presenting the case for feeling good about the future! Whoever said one person can’t change the world has never heard of a half-cooked bat. In all seriousness, the global pandemic has just shown us how suddenly and radically the world can be turned upside-down by the actions of a few. Now, if it can happen for the bad, then why not for the good? This is one of the questions that we’ll be delving into during my upcoming course, This Can Never Happen: The credible case for feeling good about the future. Have you ever wondered… Is society heading in the right or wrong direction? If things are getting better, then why do they feel like they’re getting worse? Is there any such thing as a perfect world? No matter how you currently feel about this whole Mashiach/redemption idea (Excited? Uncomfortable? Curious? Incredulous?), this course will introduce you to a kaleidoscope of clarifying Jewish texts—both ancient and modern—on this mysterious topic. And maybe—just maybe—by the end you’ll find that this magical-sounding idea is more logical, practical, and achievable than you thought. Join us on Wednesday, July 21 for the kick off event of this course! Poke Bowl station and other refreshments will be served! This first class is free to join, and if you like what you hear, you can sign up for the subsequent 5 classes of This Can Happen - Wednesdays weekly from 7:30-8:30. In addition to serving as the representative in our nation’s capital of the international Chabad-Lubavitch movement - the worlds largest and fastest growing network of Jewish educational and social service institutions, with more than 3500 affiliates in 50 states and over 100 countries - American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad) coordinates and supports an array of exciting activities and programs enhancing Jewish life and identity in Washington, DC. Programs include the National Menorah Council, The Capitol Jewish Forum, AURA Jewish Women, TheSHUL of the Nation's Capital, Friendship Circle - Washington DC, Young Jewish Professionals, JUDA, Camp Gan Israel, The Washington Jewish Forum, and The Jewish Student Support Center, which helps serve the needs of Jewish students nationally as well as on the campuses of American, The George Washington, Georgetown and Gallaudet Universities.
