Description
Francis,(Franny, Frank) Murphy was 1 of the Slattery's Raider's (Roxbury) 1 Hello Boston, My Mother's Uncle was someone I heard about via my Mother, my Grandmother and a few times in my teens I went to her home in San Mateo and spent a week with her, while there she pulled out a huge scrap book of every time Franny was in the paper usually in the news with other Detectives or by himself off duty running into a bar being robbed, as people ran out saying he has a gun, Franny ran in with his gun and the newspaper actually said Franny beat the guy up so badly they thought Franny had shot him at first, there were literally hundreds of stories, there was even a few stories about the Detectives on the job and had a ride along that described the night of action with Franny really being quite the Destective, very good with his hands and very fast, Slattery's Raiders were an elite squad like the untouchables. Franny had a big boat you could go around the workld on and he often stayed on the boat. My Grandmother told me when Franny was just starting the BPD he lived with his Mother and My Grandmother still and there were days that passed where they never saw him and she said she would run into him at night sneaking in so his Mother would not see the bruises and cuts he got all the time. She said all the cops knew and loved Franny All the cops knew my Grandmother Mary and her Mother due to Franny. I was young and dumb and barely listened to them at the time, however I found some stuff about him while looking at My Mother's things, Everyone is dead now and I wish I could assemble the stories he had that my grandmother assembled, he really sounded like the cliché or prototype on the TV Detective, living on a boat and solving crimes advancing to a special elite squad, becoming a Detective so fast, is there anyone who might know how or where I could assemble these past news events? I had subscribed to a few family tree sites but the results from Francis Murphy in Boston come back to an unreal number of hits, 99% not him or police related. Franny really was a part of Boston's history and actually quite interesting as an adult.
