It is often confused with the Russian Hamster, although these two species are quite distinct, each with its characteristics. Campbell’s Hamster: main characteristics Native to Mongolia, the Campbell’s Hamster (Phodopus campbelli) is a small rodent belonging to the Cricetidae family. This mammal measures only 9 cm in length when adult, for a weight of 35 to 60 g. This is why it is nicknamed Campbell’s Dwarf Hamster. It has nevertheless a rather massive corpulence.
