She has been quilting for over 20 years and continues to wind awards for her custom quilting. These classes focus on free-motion technique and tips to make your project easier. See descrtiptions below. Sunday July 25th 2:30-5:30 Threads, Needles, Tension We all have our favorite threads and fabrics. Many times, there isn’t a match between the two—What to do?! Let Jackie take you through the different thread and fabric characteristics that will affect your tension. Be ready to expand your horizons with different combinations that have predictable results. This hands-on class will let you try different combinations and, more importantly, understand the ‘why’ regarding changes in tension. Monday July 26th 9:30-4:00 Getting comfortable with free-motion quilting. You’ve stitched your name and some designs, now it’s time to really get going! Learn the techniques and tips from a Masterpiece Quilter. Jackie has been quilting for over 20 years and has many award-winning quilts to her name. Like anything else, learning the correct way to approach free-motion quilting can make all the difference in the finished product. Jackie will cover topics including the correct posture for different quilting styles, how to embrace stippling, how to create a consistent meander, and how the different tools on your Handi Quilter can make your life easier. Tuesday July 27th 9:30-4:00 Rulers and Couching- ‘Make it Take it’ stocking project. Rulers are an awesome tool to create the building blocks of your free motion quilts. Just like any tool, they require education to use properly and to their fullest extent. Learn the fundamentals and tips/tricks from Jackie to unlock your ‘Acrylic potential’! Jackie will bring her selection of favorite rulers. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own favorites as well to get ideas from Jackie for using them. Couching is a great way to add depth to any custom quilt. Different yarns open a world of possibility to have the quilting design jump off the fabric! We will get you up and going then spend some time accenting your own designs. At the end of the day, you will walk away with a couched quilting design on a denim stocking to hang on a mantle for Christmas! Wednesday July 28th 9:30-4:00 Rulers and negative space fill- ‘Make it Take It’ pillow project. We’ve learned the basics of rulers, now let’s put them to use! With Jackie’s help, you will create and stitch a motif with rulers, then learn how to fill in the space with stippling, pebbles, etc. Bring your rulers you’d like to use to create the design and Jackie will help you put it all together. You will leave with a quilted pillow made by YOU! Cost for 3 1/2 days of education is $229. This includes class fees and supplies.
