One day a year YF&R hosts this big event with produce supplied by local farmers and in return we will help Norris Middle School in 2021.
The Kern County Young Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R), a non-profit group with the Kern County Farm Bureau, is once again hosting their Annual Charity Farmer’s Market this summer. One day a year YF&R hosts this big event with produce supplied by local farmers. Local Kern County residents can get produce in exchange for donations, and walk away with a completed shopping list. What produce will be at this event, you ask? At the 5th annual market customers took home watermelons, grapes, rainbow carrots, grapevines, pistachios, nectarines, peaches, almonds, tomatoes, baby potatoes, squash, garlic, fruit trees, honey and so much more. For 2021, the Young Farmers & Ranchers are working to make this event bigger and better for you.
Money raised from the event will go towards building upon the current garden at Norris Middle School. The goal is to help build some items on their wishlist, which includes items like a shed to store gardening tools, work benches, planting fruit trees, and more. Remaining funds will go towards future projects like FFA animal projects, agricultural education, industry tours, and ag outreach for the YF&R group.
The event will take place on Saturday, July 10, 2019 from 8:00am to 12:00pm in the Farm Credit West parking lot off Merle Haggard Dr, just east of Hwy 99, at 19628 Industry Pkwy Dr. Additional information can be found on the groups Facebook Page, “Kern County Young Farmers and Ranchers” or on their Instagram @kern_yfr
