Son of a Saint Volunteer Orientation The purpose of the Son of a Saint Volunteer Program is to fulfill the mission of the organization by championing the human spirit of volunteerism. We do this by cultivating dedicated, supportive volunteers through providing guidance, resources and creating a culture of appreciation within the Son of a Saint volunteer community. This event will be an opportunity for prospective volunteers to learn more about Son of a Saint and the various volunteer opportunities that will be available throughtout the year. Requirements to Volunteer: Copy of Driver's License, Copy of Car Insurance, Background Check ($) Son of a Saint Volunteer Opportunities and Descriptions Outreach + Event Volunteer: As an Outreach + Event Volunteer, you assist on the event day for set-up, guest assistance and registration or clean up. Outreach + Event Volunteers may also choose to be involved in event planning. This group of volunteers work under the direction of various members of the event committee, staff or other volunteers, who will provide task-specific training. Outreach + Event Volunteers will also help identify and coordinate (in conjunction with staff) outreach events and activities including; attending fairs and community events, tabling booths, networking meetings and more to help connect the community with Son of a Saint and to communicate the mission and purpose of the organization. Transportation Volunteer: As a Transportation Volunteer, you will provide a simple service to our mentees by providing local transportation to Son of a Saint events, school, to-and-from their home, games, programs and various engagements. Transportation Volunteers need a reliable vehicle and preferably one that can comfortably transport up to three mentees. Accessibility is also a requirement. We are looking for reliable people who are friendly and patient with the mentees. Transportation Volunteers must provide a valid drivers license, car insurance and have a good driving record. Education Volunteer: As an Education Volunteer, you will be responsible for providing mentees with individualized assistance to help them with their school work and complete assignments. Their duties include studying lesson plans and reviewing textbooks to prepare for a lesson, assigning additional projects and answering a mentee’s question about a topic. Fundraising/Development Volunteer: As a Fundraising/Development Volunteer, you will with the Development Coordinator to establish and execute specific Son of a Saint fundraising strategies. They will also assist in event coordination, including large-scale fundraisers like the Son of a Saint Annual Gala. They will excecute mailings to donors and supporters and assist with other tasks as assigned that both support fundraising and the organization's mandate. Activity/Project Volunteer: As an Activity/Project Volunteer, you will organize and lead a range of volunteer activities in support of Son of a Saint’s mission Activity/Project Volunteers take on responsibility for coordinating specific activities or projects for Son of a Saint, liaising with programming staff and external partners, as appropriate, recruiting and supporting volunteers and ensuring that activities are delivered effectively, safely and enjoyably for those participating.
