SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — The COVID-19 vaccine clinic operated by the Department of Health in Sarasota County at the Sarasota Square Mall shut down permanently Thursday, according to a news release from the DOH. Those who want to receive the vaccine in Sarasota County can still do so through the DOH's offices in Sarasota at 2200 Ringling Blvd. and North Port at 6950 Outreach Way. Both offices, which are open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., offer the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson brand vaccines, G. Steve Huard, DOH public information officer said in a video. No appointments are required. Like what you're reading? Everyone receiving a vaccine must present a valid ID, a signed consent form and be ready for the 15-minute wait after receiving their vaccine. "Please come out and get vaccinated. It's very important for the community," Huard said. As of June Friday, nearly 268,000 people or 67 percent of those 12 and older who are eligible for the vaccine, have received at least one dose, according to Florida's weekly COVID-19 report.
