SPRING VALLEY, NY — The mother of a 1-year-old who died June 19 while she was not home has been indicted by a Rockland County grand jury.
Marie Dorleus, 36, left her three children, the oldest of whom was 6, at home alone for several hours that evening.
The 1-year-old became trapped between a bed and a wall in the apartment on Kennedy Drive. Emergency responders were called at 8:40 p.m. The child, who was unresponsive when they got there, was pronounced dead at Montefiore Nyack Hospital. SEE: Baby Dies In 6-Year-Old's Care; Mother Arrested
She was charged with manslaughter and taken to the Rockland County Jail on bail of $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.
The Journal News reported that in the indictment she was also charged with criminally negligent homicide and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
