PINELLAS COUNTY, FL — Pinellas County Tax Collector Charles W. Thomas announced the opening of a second office where residents can obtain a concealed weapons license. Previously, the only place residents could apply for a concealed weapons permit was on the second floor of the tax collector's north county branch office off U.S. 19 in Clearwater. The new location is housed on the second floor of his south county full-service center located at 2500 34th St. N. in St. Petersburg. Thomas said this new office has been in the works for months but was held up by delays from the Department of Agriculture due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This month, the long-awaited equipment was finally installed and tax collector staff were trained in preparation for today's grand opening June 23. With this additional location, customers can apply for or renew concealed weapons licenses at either end of the county. "From the very beginning, we planned to offer concealed weapon license services at our new south county service center that opened last August," said Thomas. "For us, customer service comes first, and this second location enhances our service offerings by giving the citizens residing in, or toward, the southern part of Pinellas a more convenient option." In addition to concealed weapons licenses, both the south county and north county branch offices offer other services including driver's license/ID cards, title services, road tests and property tax services. Appointments at the new concealed weapons license office can be scheduled here. For more information about concealed weapons licenses, click here.
