FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham police are trying to find out more information about two dogs found abandoned at a city elementary school amid a record-breaking heat wave.
The two dogs were found just before 10 a.m. Tuesday at Brophy Elementary School on the west side of Framingham. The dogs were inside "filthy" crates, police said. One dog appeared to be a Shiba Inu, the other a Pomeranian.
The dogs were rescued by Framingham's animal control officers after they were spotted by passersby.
"Abandoning an animal is NEVER an option," Framingham police said in a social media post. "Not only is it cruel, it is illegal in Massachusetts. If you are unable to properly care for an animal, contact your local animal control or reach out to an organization like [Animal Rescue League] of Boston or the MSPCA — there are always resources available."
If you have information about the dogs, contact Framingham's animal control division at 508-532-5870.
