Description
WOMEN are change agents of the world. Come, share a meal, and be educated on how we can work together to improve birth outcomes.
On July 30, 2021, 12:00pm – 1:30pm at Century Center in South Bend, IN, The Birth Equity & Justice group of St. Joseph County, IN will host a luncheon for pastor’s wives, female clergy, and other female church leaders to share what we’ve learned about infant mortality and maternal health. We will begin a conversation about how we can work together to take action at a systems, policy, healthcare, and individual level to improve birth outcomes in our community.
This luncheon, inspired by the history of women of the church leading community action, is just the first of several events we have planned for the next year. At the event, we will share St. Joseph County specific findings about infant and maternal health . Each table will have detailed discussions, led by a local expert, on topics connected to how we can eliminate inequities and create a community of respectful and accessible care for all birthing families.*
*Our goal to create a community of accessible & respectful care for all families is inspired by the scholarship of Dr. Joia Crear-Perry and the National Birth Equity Collaborative
Please take a few minutes to watch the video below from Houston Public Media featuring just one woman's story. We gather around this cause to protect the beauty and triumph that is maternity. More simply, we gather to save lives.
