AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Department of Transportation will break ground on the Oak Hill Parkway project on Thursday. The project will improve U.S. Highway 290 and State Highway 71 in southwest Austin. The Oak Hill Parkway project will improve safety and mobility along six miles of U.S. 290 and 1.2 miles of SH 71, TxDOT officials said Tuesday. The project will also feature the full reconstruction of the US 290/SH 71 "Y" interchange to include two new flyovers, new cross street configurations along US 290 west of the "Y", and approximately 15 miles of new paths for bicyclists and pedestrians, authorities said. The $674 million Texas Clear Lanes project is fully funded and is anticipated to complete in 2025-2026, officials said.
