PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pirates have suffered numerous indignities this season besides their awful won-lost record: Bucs first baseman Will Craig famously and needlessly engaging in a rundown between home and first with the Cubs Javier Baez and the Pirates Ke'Bryan Hayes being called out after hitting a home run because he failed to touch first base spring instantly.
Now comes another one. A survey of fans across the country indicates little love for the Pirate uniforms. The poll was conducted by PlayUSA,a website providing news and information regarding legal and regulated online gambling in the United States.
The Pirates on-field apparel ranked 26th out of 30 Major League Baseball teams. Behind them, in order, were the Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins were ranked lower.
The teams with the best uniforms? The top five were the Chicago Cubs, New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals.
For the results, 2,000 Major League Baseball fans across the country was asked to rate every team's home uniform. Respondents were 63 percent male and 37 percent female with an average age of 35.
