Altadena Libraries To Get $250K In Funding

ALTADENA, CA — The Altadena Library District will be getting $250,000 in funding thanks to Assemblyman Chris Holden. The money will be used by the district, which oversees two branches within Altadena, to make facility improvements and to help fund its libraries' programs and services, according to a release from Holden's office. Part of the money will also be used to start a mobile library van that would visit different Altadena neighborhoods to provide the community with free Wi-Fi access in addition to books. Holden secured funding for the library district after the state legislature passed AB 129 and SB 120, which supplements California's 2021 to '22 budget. In addition to the Altadena Library District, $4 million was secured for the Pasadena Central Library, which will be used to fund a seismic retrofit study, and $1.6 million for the Pasadena Playhouse, which will go toward upgrading the facility's HVAC. "[Tuesday's] local budget victories will have a direct positive impact in the 41st Assembly District," Holden said in a statement. "I'm thankful of the support from my colleagues and look forward to bringing more victories home to the district I represent and the people I serve
