WORCESTER, MA — The Worcester Red Sox home Polar Park opened almost two months ago, but some parts of the new Kelley Square stadium was still under construction for much of that time. But this week, the WooSox unveiled several new features at the park completed recently that will expand capacity and provide fan entertainment. At Tuesday's game against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, a new gate opened at the end of Plymouth Street. A new playground area for children also opened near the gate featuring a small merry-go-round and other activities for toddlers. The opening of the new gate also completes a pathway that encircles the entire stadium. There's also a new grassy berm in left field that will soon be able to accommodate up to 120 fans. The area is closed to seating until the grass takes root, according to the team. The WooSox are in the midst of a six-game homestand against the RailRiders. The games will culminate this weekend with a series of post-game fireworks shows themed around the Fourth of July holiday.
