The temporary Maintenance Technician performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks and cleaning duties in support of our Julian and San Diego properties and buildings. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of council property using equipment of the trade. The Maintenance Technician is also responsible for troubleshooting maintenance problems and completing preventative maintenance work. This temporary position is expected to begin as soon as possible and end in August, 2021. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Performs custodial duties in relation to cleaning of structures, which include: sweeping, mopping, cobweb removal, dusting, window washing, vacuuming, trash removal, re-stocking paper goods, cleaning and plunging, sink cleaning, and shower cleaning. - Vector control. - Will perform carpentry, plumbing, grounds keeping, electrical and painting assignments. - Maintains the proper function and appearance of council property, buildings, meeting room, cabins and equipment. - Responsible for keeping the Property Director informed of problems and progress related to council property. - Operates heavy maintenance equipment when required. - Serves and assists staff / volunteers in a friendly and professional manner. - Transports supplies, materials, etc. as directed using council-owned vehicle. - Assist property department and other departments as needed. - Perform other duties as assigned. Required Experience: - High school diploma required or equivalent work experience in property maintenance. - Knowledge and skill to safely operate commonly used landscape maintenance equipment and tools preferred. - Working knowledge of blowers, power tools, riding mowers, drills, skill saws, sanders, etc. - Previous work experience with property maintenance preferred. - Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft office suite and internet research. - Able to work with minimal direction. - Practical knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in janitorial / custodial care. - Must have competency in skills related to the field of cleaning, proper usage of cleaning products, equipment, and maintain logs and records. - Able to work harmoniously with others and be flexible regarding work schedules and assignments. - Must have attention to detail, have the ability to meet deadlines and function under pressure. - Must be regular and punctual in attendance. - Valid drivers' license, proof of insurance, and access to reliable transportation. Daily and / or occasional travel may be required. - Must have belief in the mission and values of Girl Scouting; be willing to subscribe to the principles expressed in the Promise and Law, and aware of the needs of girls in our pluralistic society.
