Do people even try with their sap sad stories anymore seriously. For like a third of the cost you can get a new phone and a line through MetroPCS, hell if you tell them you are going to switch from Verizon Metro will give you the same number and a phone for free you just have to pay the first month and like a $15 hook up fee, people don't fall for this crap.
