Description
hello,
we're a guitarist/songwriter and drummer looking for a bassist that's musically dedicated and into helping shape songs (both old and new in our pile) to be their best. we've had trouble with previous bassists not really "getting" the vibe of songs or just not really cutting it in terms of their playing. i don't think it's cause we are some virtuoso, super skilled players, but it'd be nice to have someone who just digs the music and wants to be an active part of performing and eventually writing together.
we've got a lot of songs, and older releases going between genres from eccentric art rock to slowcore to simpler post-punk inspired rock. we want to play slow ballads as much as we'd like to play some crazy 8 minute long artsy songs with multiple sections, etc.
ideally, we just want to perform all kinds of music in all sorts of places. we have some gigs lined up for the rest of the year, and it'd be great to not have to perform them as a duo.
if you have any rudimentary experience in playing some keys (we alternate between instruments for certain songs) and if you can at least hold a tune with your voice, it all helps. we both live in different cities but we meet up in burbank to rehearse at least once a week, so if you are in that vicinity, that also helps. but one of us is at least an 45 minutes away from there, so we aren't opposed to people outside that area if they are at least punctual and dedicated. ultimately, if we feel there's a chemistry and understanding, then we won't hesitate to try and make it work.
anyways, some musical influences: unwound, elvis costello, codeine, unrest, r.e.m., harvey danger, steely dan, jawbox, prefab sprout, talk talk, liars, a.r. kane, slowdive, the police, idaho and lots of other stuff. we love music, really.
if you are the bassist of our dreams and finds this all deeply interesting, send an email with some of your work and we'll see if you like the music you might want to be a part of. thanks!
