Description
A weekly community of support along the motherhood journey The journey into motherhood can be challenging, emotional, and lonely. Currently, we are trying to birth and raise our babies during a global pandemic and that’s adding insurmountable stress to our already demanding positions inside and outside of the home. Maybe you found yourself here at The Bloom Collective because you’re new to motherhood or you have experience in parenting but are in need of a community of supportive folx. Maybe you’re experiencing feelings of anxiety around pregnancy and delivery, trying to grapple with trauma and grief, or struggling with postpartum depression. Although quarantine has made it more difficult to access resources and support, you’re in the right place. I am here because you deserve an empowering and non-judgemental space to explore motherhood. Understanding that children, mothers and families are raised, educated, and nurtured by their environment, we can explore ways to build loving and supportive communities. About the group facilitator: Amber Gillian, MS, LCPC Originally from New Jersey, for the last eight years Maryland has been my home where I raise my three children. I graduated from State University of New York with a B.S. in Business, Management, and Economics and obtained a M.S. in Applied Psychology, Counseling Psychology from the University of Baltimore. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the State of Maryland. I have completed advanced trainings in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders as well as trauma and mindfulness. In my previous career, I worked to help women achieve financial independence, and as a therapist, my passion for working with women and mothers continues to expand. In addition to supporting mothers experiencing difficulties with pregnancy, loss, and parenting, I’ve worked with youth in foster care, and individuals suffering from a history of trauma and emotional distress. My career is focused on raising awareness around mental health challenges, creating communities of supportive individuals, and helping my clients gain access to essential resources. I utilize an eclectic approach to healing, which takes into account all parts of a client’s social, emotional, and psychological influences. We will talk about your network of support, the importance of adequate rest and nutrition, self-care, mindfulness, cultivating positive energy, and having goals outside of parenting. Therapy is not about giving advice or providing solutions. By participating in group and individual therapy, my clients are equipped with tools, strategies, and education that will help to improve their relationships, enhance communication skills, and reduce feelings of emotional distress.
