Description
Child Development Workshop for Parents. When it comes to child development, there seems to be some serious difficulty in separating fact from fiction. But, not at Hollitown. "Punishers" have gotten a bad rap over the past 30 - 40 years or so. Are they REALLY bad..? A lot of kids are growing up with entitlement issues, anxiety problems, and more. Why..? The incorrect application of Skinner's Operant Conditioning theory (a widely used psychology theory) and the idea that "expert" opinion should set the stage for parenting trends are 2 key contributors to some of the worst developmental issues our children face today. In fact, certain developmental environments actually CREATE mental health, behavioral, and emotional disorders! And, right now, some of the most popular parenting trends are CAUSING developmental issues in our kids. This fact makes it extremely important for parents to understand the impact their parenting choices have on their children. Knowledge is power. Learn more right now so you can start protecting your child's development immediately. What will you learn in this valuable parenting workshop? B.F. Skinner's Operant Conditioning, based on his behavioral research, uses the terms "rewards" and "punishers" in a way that sort of confuses the reader. This workshop is designed to help parents better understand the underlying natural phenomenon behind these 2 terms, as well as the most effective use potential for the application of each concept in parenting. We will discuss the ways in which people are rewarding children in excess, and how this actually leads to a host of mental health and behavioral issues in children. Yes, there actually IS a right way to reward a child and a wrong way! And, the difference between the 2 makes all the difference in the world in terms of healthy development. This Hollitown workshop will also help you understand why punishers are not actually "bad," when they SHOULD be used, and how to best use them to ensure healthy child development. Hope you can join us. : ) (Psychology beginners are welcome to attend! No previous psychology training is needed to fully benefit from this workshop.) ==================================================================== The speaker, Holli Willibey, earned her M.S. degree in General Psychology from Walden University with a 4.0 G.P.A. in 2013.
