Description
A fun and self-paced jaunt about town, featuring 10 unique and beautiful spots to stop, refresh and support the work of Bike Newport! The 10-SPOT RIDE is back and it's going to be great fun! It’s your chance to get outside for a summer adventure – all at your own pace, route, and comfort. Our 10 spots will feature some of last year’s favorites PLUS some exciting new locations. Each spot offers a special garden, ambience, and personality – reflecting the host, the site, and the fare. Sip and savor small bites and cool libations while enjoying live music provided by some of our areas finest musicians! Here’s how it works – Ticket holders will be assigned a starting location to check in on event day- once there, you will receive a map of all 10 spot locations, mostly private residences, in Newport. Each Spot will feature unique food, mocktails, and music, provided by hosts, sponsors, venues, and entertainers. From 11am to 4pm, you may visit each of the Ten Spots scattered around the city. Tickets are limited- Reserve your Spot today! If you cannot make the event, please consider a donation in support of bicycling education, advocacy, and community building - thank you! Bike Newport work promotes bicycling as a viable, safe, and comfortable choice for all, in the best interest of our community’s health, economy, environment, and quality of life. We offer educational programs for all ages, advocate for safer streets for all road-users, and provide access to restored bikes, donated by our supporters and refurbished by our team of bike mechanics. Our efforts to continue our work throughout the Covid-19 pandemic- including the distribution of nearly 400 bicycles in our community last year- led to our being named the 2020 Advocacy Organization of the Year by the League of American Bicyclists. Here are just some of the ways that your ticket purchase and donations are put to use: $50 refurbishes one youth bicycle; or buys 5 kids helmets $100 restores 2 bikes for community distribution $250 pays for one 3-hour session for Open Garage or Bike Library, or one community Full Moon Ride. $300 buys 15 sets of night safety equipment for bicycle dependent workers or 30 children's helmets. $500 trains one Certified Instructor in Bicycle Safety. $1000 sends 2 kids for one week of Bicycle Camp; $1,500 pays for one year of internship for a high school student. $2,500 trains six staff in advanced bike mechanics or completes a community mural at the Big Blue Bike Barn. Thank you for supporting Bike Newport and our work to make it easier and safer for bicycling to be a choice - and a solution. Bike Newport’s mission is to create the conditions that lead to more people biking more often, and to ensure that bicycling is a viable, safe and comfortable primary choice for transportaton and recreation.
