SUDBURY, MA — A truck will apply a pesticide to several neighborhoods in Sudbury Wednesday evening as part of routine summer East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project spraying. The truck will be spraying the pesticide Zenivex E4, which kills adult mosquitoes. The pesticide's active ingredient is called etofenprox, and can cause eye and skin irritation, and is harmful if swallowed. The truck will be using small amounts of the pesticide, however. "Mosquito control applications of Zenivex E4 do not pose a significant risk to people or their pets due to the low toxicity and the small amount used to control mosquitoes," the town said in a notice. "As with any pesticide, people should minimize their exposure. If residents see a spray truck approaching, they are advised to go indoors for a few minutes while the spray dissipates."
