PORT JEFFERSON STATION, NY — Suffolk County detectives are now investigating the circumstances of how a man was injured in a 14-foot fall down a hole at a construction site in Port Jefferson Station, a spokesman said Tuesday night. Sixth Precinct officers responded to a call of a man who fell into a hole at 1175 Rte. 112 at about 2 p.m., according to a police spokesman. The opening of the hole was about four feet by four feet and the man dropped about 14 feet, police said. It is not clear if the man, whose identity has not been released, is a worker at the site. Sixth Squad detectives are investigating the incident and the United States Department of Labor's Office of Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been notified, police said. The police did not release any more details.
