Tosa East Athletes Shine At State Championship

WAUWATOSA, WI — Student athletes from Wauwatosa East High School scored high in both the men's and women's varsity track and field competitions, though they fell short of the top three in the Division 1 rankings in the state championship over the weekend. The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association state championship took place Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Jetta Mays of Tosa East's Red Raiders scored first in the girls 100 meter dash with 11.68 seconds. It was an outdoor personal best record for Mays, according to athletic.net. Mays also landed first place in the 200 meter dash with 24.59 seconds, according to an association score post. Nichols finished in third place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.05 seconds. The Tosa East's girls team was outpaced by the D.C. Everest Senior High School team, which scored 46 points to the Red Raiders 24 points. Arrowhead Union High School outpaced Tosa East's boys team. Arrowhead scored 66 points to the Red Raiders 20. "Congrats to Jetta and her two state championships in the 100 and 200 and everyone else's finishes," Tosa East's athletics department said. "Thank you seniors of both teams for your patience, determination and effort over the years. Good luck on your next phase in life."
