Press release from the City of Cambridge: June 28, 2021 June 28, 2021: The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project began another round of treating Cambridge catch basins with mosquito larvicide to help control West Nile Virus in the City. The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project was established in 1945 as a Trust Agency of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and provides mosquito control services to 26 participating communities located west and northwest of Boston. This pesticide is classified as low-risk toxicity to humans, other mammals, fish, bees and birds. Treated catch basins have been marked with purple paint.
