One resident received such a call recently, the police said on Facebook. The caller gave an "employee number" and said the resident owed money. "This is a scam!" the police said. "National Grid is the sole electrical provider in Andover, and they will not threaten you over the phone to pay a bill." The police encouraged residents who receive calls like this to hang up and report it to the utility company. .
