About the instructor:
Rita Brown - A combination of extreme talent, beauty and elegance the Gypsy Chicks American Tribal Style belly dance troupe are truly a gift to the spirit, eyes and the mind! These wonderful ladies were the first to bring ATS to the Mobile-Pensacola Bay area 18 years ago led by director/teacher Rita Bates-Brown, former member of Chicago's Read My Hips a Masters level Dance/Movement Therapist.
Rita has been directing and teaching ATS Belly dance here on the Gulf Coast for 19 years after dancing professionally with Chicago's Read My Hips for 3 years. This improvisational dance style includes moves from the Middle East including stylistic elements of Flamenco and American Modern Dance. The dancers communicate with each other using subtle non-verbal cues creating the dance in the moment with no 2 dances ever being alike! This follow the leader dance style facilitates a magical connection between dancers and the audience.
