We currently have an opportunity for a full time Grounds Specialist at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills a location within the Dignity Memorial Network. The candidate will be responsible for the overall appearance of the cemetery and facilities. Cemetery Grounds experience is a desired but not required. We are seeking hard working, eager to learn individuals to join our team. You are required to be personable, caring and empathetic to our customer’s needs, industrious and willing to learn. Principal Duties and Responsibilities • Heavy and light equipment operation • General use of hand tools • Ability to lift 75 lbs. • Perform a variety of task for extended periods of time • Ability to sometimes work in unfavorable weather conditions • Setting of markers, bases, and benches • Assisting with misc. duties at services which will include interaction with family • Assist customers in finding grave locations and other assorted duties related to customer service • General maintenance of the area- power washing, removing flowers, trash removal • Working with Funeral Directors and Family Service to ensure proper scheduling and planning of services • Interment Verification and follow-through with burials and entombments Requirements and Qualifications: • High Level of Integrity, dedication and desire to succeed • Must be willing to work safely and comply with the Company’s safety procedures, including but not limited to, wearing steel-toed shoes, hard hats, gloves, eye and ear protection. • Must be able to operate equipment in a safe and careful manner while avoiding damage to property. • Must be able to read and comprehend maps and measurements. • Backhoe/tractor experience preferred. • Knowledge of irrigation repair and maintenance is a bonus • Must be a team player by effectively working with others to accomplish tasks. • Requires the ability to show respect and sensitivity toward client families while working in a physically demanding environment. • A good driving record and valid driver’s license Must be 18 years of age or older and hold a valid Washington state driver’s license.
