MORRISTOWN, NJ — Want to join school board? Morristown residents have the opportunity to fill Vij Pawar's seat on the Morris School District's Board of Education.
Pawar was sworn in as a superior-court judge Friday, which forced him to step down from his roles as both town attorney and a member of the school board. Pawar's term as a board member ends in December.
Town Council unanimously voted June 22 to appoint David Minchello as Morristown's attorney. But replacing a school board member requires a different process.
The Morris School District's board has five representatives from Morris Township, four living in Morristown and one in Morris Plains. Pawar represented Morristown, so his position is only open to Morristown residents.
The Morris School District set a July 9 deadline for applicants to send their information and a letter of interest to District Business Administrator Anthony LoFranco.
From there, the board will call a special meeting to conduct interviews and make a selection.
