Oswego's Little White School Museum Fully Reopens

OSWEGO, IL — Polk Street's Little White School Museum, honoring Oswego's history and residents, is fully reopened after more than a year of restrictions due to the pandemic. The museum is back open five days a week — closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays — and no longer requires visitors to make reservations before arriving. The museum staff asks unvaccinated visitors ages 2 and older to continue wearings face coverings in a public place when social distancing can't be maintained. In accordance to the mandates in place by the Oswegoland Park District, which owns the museum, those who are fully vaccinated are no longer required to wear masks. Built as a church in 1850, the white building, at 72 Polk Street, was used as a school through the 1960s before it converted to a museum and archive for Oswegoland's history, according to the museum's website. The oldest public building in town, the Little White School Museum now also features QR codes at each of its five video presentations in order to keep things touch-free and allow visitors to watch videos at home if they choose, according to a Chicago Tribune article. Videos can also be found on the museum's website. For those who can't make it out to the museum, its galleries are still available through virtual brochures, tours and films. The Little White School Museum is free to visit. Its hours are 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday.
